Speaking of dreams, I awoke the other day from lovely dreams to this email from my mother.
Hi Love,
I gave blood today and while I was waiting I read a magazine article (I had my glasses with me!!) about hair loss. It suggested seeing a doctor about your thyroid. Because thyroid problems are in the family - grandma and me - it sure wouldn't hurt to have it checked out. There's medication you can take to help with hair loss...
Love you....

It's great to know that someone is thinking about me (and my receding hairline).

Oh no! We're getting old. I found some wrinkles developing around my eyes. To much sun and squinting I suppose...
Yup, time keeps ticking... but with the increasing forehead and lines around the eyes, I'd like to think that we get better with time.
(Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the email was published on The Little Spruce Tree with my mom's permission... )
My mother thinks I should stop dyeing my hair and let the grey grow back in. She says I would look "distinguished."
Sure, and then I'll start wearing turtlenecks under blazers with patched elbows, and turn my living room into an oaken study.
Sister to sister: under-eye cream actually does work.
My mom suffers from hyperthyroidism and recently (i.e. last couple years) had her thyroid completely and artificially killed off with chemicals. Subsequently, I have to get my thyroid checked out at least yearly.
It's quick and easy blood test to get run either way.
Generally you'd have other things going on - artificial metabolism and/or inability to self-regulate temperature off the top of my head.
It could be that you're genetically prone to hair loss too - as I recall, your dad doesn't exactly have a full head of hair. I think genetically the second generation back is more significant though and I certainly can't comment on any of your grand-relatives. :)
