I think that people miss that logic and faith are different and independent axis.
You can not logic faith. By definition, you can not prove or disprove belief.
Similarly, believing in something will not make it true.
That being said, I remember reading a particularly good math proof done by one of Cantor's disciples in the 50's and 60's where he deconstructed mathematical science. The net result and conclusion that he came up with was that you could not proceed with any level of mathematical development without some base axioms. He put it into english as "you cannot do anything of consequence without faith in something".
Personally, I think that it's better to believe in something and be wrong, than to not believe and be right.
